The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever feeds a fasting person will have a reward like that of the fasting person, without any reduction in his reward.”

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Feed the hungry, visit the sick and free the captives.”

Solving hunger lays the foundation for progress in many other areas of development, including health and education. Well-nourished women have healthier, heavier babies whose immune systems are stronger for life. A healthy, well-fed child is also more likely to attend school.

Due to Coronavirus, we are delivering Ration Packs directly to households

We have many families on our books that need your support. Please help us to provide them with Ration Packs.

RAMADAN REMINDERS

Ehsaas accepts the following

Zakat-ul-Fitr: $8 per person

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ordained Zakat-ul-Fitr to purify the fasting person from indecent words or actions and, to provide food for the needy. It is accepted as zakah for the person who gives it before the Eid prayer; but it is a mere sadaqah for the one who gives it after the prayer.

Zakat-ul-Fitr is obligatory for every person to pay before Eid prayer. Remember to pay on behalf of any children or elderly members of your household. The amount of fitrah is the value of one meal for a needy person ($8.00 per meal). The earlier it is paid during Ramadan, the better, as Ehsaas field offices shall spend your Zakat-ul-Fitr funds on the day of Eid.

Fidyah: $240 per month ($8 per Day)

There are many reasons why a Muslim worshiper might be unable to fast during the month of Ramadan; they may be unwell, pregnant or traveling. In these cases they must compensate by feeding a poor person for each day of fasting that they missed throughout the month of Ramadan. This practice is known as Fidyah and is calculated according to the average cost of two meals a day.

Kaffarah: $480 per missed fast

To atone for a missed/intentionally broken fast, you must fast continuously for 60 days. However, if you are unable to do that, then you have to feed 60 poor people at a rate of $8 per person (the cost of an average meal in the US). As a result, this amounts to $480 for each missed/intentionally broken fast.
